Cuttack: Two persons have been arrested by the Chauliaganj police over their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a minor girl in Cuttack city.
The arrested ones have been identified as Santosh Behera and Rakesh Rout. The two were nabbed within 24 hours of reporting of the offence, Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said.
A case has been registered against the persons under Sections 376 DA, 376(2)(n) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. “Investigation will be completed early for both accused to stand trial and justice done,” Sarangi tweeted.
The cops on Wednesday raided a chicken shop run by the accused in the locality and seized liquor bottles, drugs and objectionable items.
Earlier, two men allegedly gang-raped the 15-year-old girl inside a house near Gatiroutpatna here.
According to sources, the victim, a Class IX student of Garama panchayat in Tirtol block in Jagatsinghpur district, had left her house and was staying at the house of her elder sister in the Professor Pada area in the city. She was staying there for the last one month after she was subject to physical torture by her father.
However, after some dispute between her sister and brother-in-law, the minor girl was asked to return home.
