Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab Admitted To Hospital, Odisha CM Wishes Him Speedy Recovery

Cuttack: Member of Parliament (MP) from Cuttack and BJD leader Bhartruhari Mahtab has been admitted to a hospital in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted that he spoke to Mahtab’s son over phone to enquire about his health and wished him speedy recovery.

He was admitted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi after reportedly suffering a heart attack on Monday afternoon. His condition is currently stable.

“Visited senior MP Bhatruhari Mahtab, who’s in RML hospital since yesterday. Discussed with him & relatives, am very glad to see he is recovering well. An accomplished parliamentarian & colleague of long years, he is widely respected. Wish him the best for a speedy return to work,” tweeted former MP and BJP vice-president Baijayant Panda.

The MP is the son of late Harekrushna Mahtab, who was the Chief Minister of Odisha from 1946 to 1950 and again from 1956 to 1961. He was popularly known as “Utkala Keshari”.

Mahatb has represented the Cuttack constituency for five successive terms. He received the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award 2017. He is also the recipient of Sansad Ratna Award 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for his outstanding performance in ‘Debates’.
