Cuttack: Ahead of Durga Puja celebrations in the Millennium City, Commissionerate Police has warned against forcible collection of Puja Chanda (donations).
In a Twitter post, Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh has urged the city denizens to inform police about any kind of forceful collection of ‘Chanda’ in the name of Puja during the ensuing annual festival. He said identity of the complainant will be kept confidential.
“The Commissionerate Police will show zero tolerance and ensure strict action against any kind of forceful collection and extortion in the name of Puja,” he added.
Notably, the Malgodown Police had arrested two members of the Puja Committee on September 28 for forcibly collecting ‘chanda’ from a Dahibara vendor and a street vendor at College Square area.
