Cyclone Amphan: Wind To Pick Up Speed From Wednesday Morning, Says SRC
Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena on Tuesday said cyclone Amphan is likely to affect more areas than cyclone Bulbul and around one lakh people have to be evacuated to safe shelter.
Considering the likely effect of the cyclone, 31 teams of ODRAF and NDRF and 217 teams of fire service personnel have been deployed in vulnerable districts, said the Commissioner.
Stating that strong wind along with rain started in the coastal areas from Tuesday evening, the SRC said the cyclonic wind will pick up speed from Wednesday morning. However, the eye of the cyclone Amphan will move out of influence zone in Odisha between 12 noon and 2 pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Jena has directed the officials of the districts which may face the onslaught of the Amphan to discourage the migrants from returning to their homes.
