Bhubaneswar: The very severe cyclonic storm Arnab is moving faster now, and is expected to make landfall during the early hours of Wednesday, October 28.

According to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the landfall is likely to happen between 2 am and 4 am.

“The very severe cyclonic storm is interacting with the land surface and the outer spiral band has entered into the land. Due to faster movement, the landfall of cyclone is expected early. It is likely to make landfall during early hours (2-4 AM) of 28th October,” IMD said.

Earlier, the landfall was expected at forenoon on Wednesday.

However, there is no change in the projected landfall site.

The very severe cyclonic storm over Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 6 hours, and lay centreed at 5.30 pm as of 27th October, over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast, about 90 km southeast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), 170 km south-southwest of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 170 km east-northeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 240 km east-northeast of Bapatla (Andhra Pradesh), and 410 km southwest of Gopalpur (Odisha).

It is very likely to continue to move nearly west-northwestwards during next few hours, then northwestwards and cross Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, close to south of Yanam as a very severe cyclonic storm with the maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph, gusting to 150 kmph, during early hours of October 28.
