Cyclone Fani: 1200 Firemen Deployed For Restoration Of Services
Bhubaneswar: With cyclone Fani leaving a trail of destruction in the city and other coastal areas, over 1200 firemen have fanned out to different parts for relief and restoration work.
In the Odisha capital, 475 fire service personnel have been deployed for tree cutting and restoration of road communication.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Odisha Fire Service, 26 dedicated teams have been provided to CESU to assist them in removing uprooted poles so that electricity supply can be restored.
Besides, 18000-litre water tankers of the department are being used for supplying drinking water to residents of colonies and slum area facing acute water scarcity.
Fire department has also taken up the responsibility of lighting the streets and important places like Baramunda bus stand.
In Puri, nearly 250 firemen have been engaged for cutting cyclone-damaged trees, restoring uprooted electrical poles, supplying drinking water and also providing tower lights in streets, including Bada Danda and district headquarters hospital.
Similarly, dedicated teams of firemen are working in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Kendrapara and other areas to restore normalcy.
