Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic storm Gulab, which crossed between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts on Sunday night, has partially affected road communication in some districts in south Odisha.
In Koraput district, road communication has been disrupted due to the uprooting of big trees in Kunduli under Pottangi police limits. Besides, big trees were also found falling on the Lamtaput-Vishakhapatnam road at Kanchana.
Due to overnight heavy rain, a portion of the NH-26 was submerged by rainwater near the government hospital at Sunki on Monday.
The ODRAF team rushed to the area and shifted the people to a nearby Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS) office.
In Malkangiri district, road communication was disrupted after big trees fell on the road near Tarlakota while the asbestos roofs of several houses were damaged in the Raleguda block.
In Ganjam district, the administration sealed the Soroda-Daringbadi ghat road apprehending landslide due to heavy rainfall.
The administration had camped at the Gajalbadi block on Sunday to restrain the people from passing through the ghat road and evacuated the people living inside the hill forest. The people were later kept at a cyclone shelter where the administration has made arrangements to provide them with dry and cooked food.
