Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Jawad after weakening into a depression from deep depression has moved northeastwards with a speed of 25 kmph during past six hours and now lay centered over northwest Bay of Bengal.
The remnants of the cyclonic storm lay about 30 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 120 km east-northeast of Puri (Odisha) and 210 south-southwest of Sagar Island(West Bengal) as at 5.30 pm on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
It is likely to move northeastwards, towards West Bengal coast and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during next 12 hours, stated the IMD bulletin.
Orange warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
Wind warning:
Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph will prevail over northwest Bay of Bengal and along and off north Odisha coast till midnight becoming 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph during midnight to Monday morning.
Sea conditions
The sea is likely to remain rough to very rough over northwest Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha coast during the next 12 hours.
The fishermen have been advised not to venture into northwest Bay of Bengal, till December 6 morning.
On the other hand, the ports have been asked to keep Local Cautionary Signal No.3 (LC-3) hoisted at all ports of Odisha.
