Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall for one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts till 8.30 am on September 30.
Thunderstorm with lightning alert has also been sounded for some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur during this period.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj is also likely to witness thunderstorm with lightning the following day.
Heavy rainfall is expected to resume again from October 1 till October 3 under the influence of an anticipated cyclonic circulation in the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal.
A warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been sounded in Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri on October 3.
There will be little change in the weather during the subsequent two days, the MeT office added.
