Balasore: A gang of six dacoits looted over Rs 40 lakh in cash from the State Bank of India’s (SBI) Srirampur branch in Odisha’s Balasore district around 2 pm on Thursday.
According to reports, the dacoits wearing college uniforms arrived in five bikes and barged into the bank. Later, they terrorized the bank staff and the manager with guns and sharp weapons before looting the money from the cash counter.
Before leaving the bank, the dacoits also locked the front door. Later, police recovered four country bombs from inside the bank.
Police suspect that the dacoits could be from neighbouring West Bengal. A manhunt has been launched to trace out the gang, police said.
