Daily COVID Caseload Remains Above 500 For 3rd Day, 16% Infectees Children

Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload remained above 500 for the third consecutive day on Thursday as 524 more people, including 82 (15.64%) in the age group of 0-18 years, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state had seen 559 new cases on Wednesday, 556 on Tuesday and 340 on Monday.

Among the new cases, 308 are from quarantine and 216 local contacts. Khurda district with 254 infections accounted for almost 49 per cent of the daily count. Cuttack saw 66 new cases. Six districts reported nil cases.

Besides, 61 are from the state pool.

With these cases being detected from 68,919 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.76 per cent.

While the COVID-19 tally has touched 1037056, Odisha now has 4,856 active cases.
