Daily COVID Count Remains Below 1K For 3 Day In Odisha; Maximum New Cases From Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 886 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours, ending at 9 am on Thursday (February 17), taking the active tally to 8664.

The state had been reporting less than 1000 cases for the last 3 days. The daily count on February 14 had dropped to 859 for the first time in 45 days after the third wave of the pandemic broke out, followed by 925 on February 15 and 852 on February 16.

According to the I & PR department, 516 of the new cases are from quarantine and 370 local contacts. Among them, 169 are in the age group of 18 years. Sambalpur district registered the highest of 179 fresh infections, followed by Khurda (86) and Sundargarh (79).

With these cases being detected from 61,492 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 1.44 per cent against 1.38 per cent the previous day.

Amid a consistent drop in COVID cases, all districts, except Khurda with 1524 active cases, in the state have moved to the Green Zone.
