Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha dropped below 1000 on Monday with 868 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
This is the lowest number of cases recorded in a single day in almost four months. The state had seen 886 new infections on August 9.
According to the I & PR department, 104 among those found infected are in the age group of 0-18 years. Their number was 138 when Odisha logged 1058 cases the previous day.
Among the new infection, 507 are from quarantine and 361 local contacts.
Khurda reported the highest 256 new COVID cases, followed by Cuttack at 154. Three districts – Sonepur, Nabarangpur and Koraput- reported nil cases.
With these cases being detected from 62119 swab samples, the test positivity rate stood at 1.39 per cent against 1.53 per cent the day before.

With this, Odisha now has 10187 active cases. Khurda continues to be in the red zone with 3638 active cases.
