Mumbai: Fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar will be undergoing open heart surgery soon.
Iqbal was admitted to JJ Hospital on Friday after complaining of chest pain. Lodged in Thane jail, he had to be hospitalized earlier as well before being discharged on August 23.
Iqbal has been behind bars since 2017 after being booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
He is also being investigated by Enforcement Directorate in a money-laundering case and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
He had told the NCB about Dawood’s whereabouts and confessed that his brother as well as his associates Chota Shakeel and Anees Ibrami live in Pakistan.
Dawood, a wanted terrorist from Mumbai, has been designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations. There are multiple cases against him by different national agencies, his offences ranging from money-laundering to arms-smuggling.
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday announced a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh for Dawood and various other reward amounts for his associates.
