Jammu: A day after a daring drone attack on Air Force station here, two more drones were spotted over Kaluchak military station in adjoining Samba district.
Indian soldiers opened fire on spotting the drones late at night but could not bring them down. Searches were being carried out to ascertain whether they were being operated from a vehicle on the adjoining road.
“On midnight of 27-28 June 2021, two separate drone activities were spotted over Ratnuchak-Kaluchak Military area by alert troops. Immediately, high alert was sounded and Quick Reaction Teams engaged them with firing. Both the drones flew away,” read an Army statement.
Prima facie investigations by security agencies and Jammu & Kashmir Police into Sunday’s attack on the IAF base found that Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved.
It’s believed to be the first offensive use of drones to target an Indian military facility.
