Day Before Hamas Attack Anniversary, Rockets Fired From Gaza Into Israel

New Delhi: A day before the first anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack, several rockets were fired into Israel in a fresh escalation of hostilities.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that rockets were launched from northern Gaza into southern Israel on Sunday.

“Several projectiles were identified crossing from the northern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. One projectile was intercepted, and the rest fell in open areas,” IDF said in a statement.

Monday will mark one year of an unprecedented attack on Israel by Palestinian militants group Hamas, which led to a strong counter offensive from Tel Aviv. That war is continuing, having claimed thousands of lives, mostly civilians, even as Israel has got involved with another major conflict with Iran and Hezbollah in recent weeks.

Earlier in the day, one person was killed and 10 injured in a terror attack at Beersheba’s central bus station in Israel.

The attacker was shot dead by Israeli police.

This is the second mass shooting incident in Israel in a week, following an attack in Tel Aviv on October 1.
