Days After Explosive Interview, Satya Pal Malik Called By CBI In Bribery Case
New Delhi: Days after Satya Pal Malik’s explosive interview in which he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to remain silent over alleged lapses in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned the former Jammu & Kashmir Governor for questioning.
The summon is in connection with Malik’s claim that he had been offered Rs 300-crore bribe to clear two files during his stint in J&K, India Today reported.
“The CBI has asked me to appear before them as they want to clarify certain things about the case. They have verbally asked me to come on 27th or 28th April as per my comfort,” Malik told India Today.
Malik had said he was offered Rs 300 crore to clear files during his tenure as Governor of J & K between August 2018 and October 2019.
He recently alleged that RSS and BJP leader Ram Madhav offered him money to pass a scheme. Madhav has filed a defamation case against Malik, rubbishing the allegations.
CBI had questioned Malik in connection with this case last October. Six months down the line, he has been summoned again.
In an interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Malik had alleged that CRPF’s request for an aircraft to transport jawans from Jammu to Srinagar was turned down by the Centre despite intelligence inputs about threats.
Mallik was governor during Pulwama terrorist attack in February 2019 and scrapping of Article 370 later that year.
