New Delhi: Eight days after postponing his two-day trip to India, Elon Musk arrived in Beijing on Sunday.
“At the invitation of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Tesla (US) CEO Elon Musk arrived in Beijing this afternoon,” Reuters quoted Chinese state broadcaster CCTV as saying.
According to a Bloomberg report, Musk is in China for talks on Tesla’s Full Self-Driving, or FSD, in the Communist-ruled nation.
Tesla is working on getting FSD, the most advanced version of its Autopilot technology, into new markets, as per the report.
Its vehicles were banned in the past in military compounds in China and some other government venues, most likely due to cybersecurity concerns over cameras installed in the vehicles.
Tesla has a factory in Shanghai — established in 2019 – which produces over half of the electric carmaker’s global deliveries.
Tesla is in the midst of its biggest job cut, with Chinese media reporting that Tesla axed all Chinese graduate offers.
Tesla has reduced EV prices in key markets like the US and China.
