New Delhi: A day after he rejected the impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, on Tuesday, defended his decision and said it was ‘timely and not a hasty one.’ Naidu said he took the decision after over a month of due diligence.
“Freedom of expression allows that but ultimately truth prevails. I have done the just thing in the best possible manner expected of me,” PTI quoted sources on Naidu’s decision.
“I have done my job and am satisfied with it,” Naidu was quoted telling a group of Supreme Court lawyers.
Naidu had rejected the impeachment notice of the Chief Justice of India citing substantial merit in it. The notice was given by opposition parties led by the Congress.
