Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Jawad has further weakened. From a ‘deep depression’, it’s now only a depression centered over northwest Bay of Bengal close to southeast of Puri, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Moving in a north-northeastwards direction, it will weaken further by Sunday midnight along the West Bengal coast, it said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre here issued heavy rainfall alert for 14 districts in the state in the next 12 hours.

Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
Yellow warning
Ganjam, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Angul and Dhenkanal.
The weather office forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at most places over coastal Odisha districts and at several places in the other districts.
Moderate rain or thundershowers with one or two intense/heavy spells of rain are likely in parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur in the next three hours.
Wind warning
Squally winds reaching 50-60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph, prevails over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal. It will gradually decrease to 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal by Sunday evening.
It will decrease further to 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, over northwest Bay of Bengal by Sunday night.
Squally winds reaching 45-55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast till Sunday evening.
