Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone, who is trying to navigate the challenges of balancing motherhood and her professional commitments, took to her Instagram stories to open up about her ‘toxic trait’.
Re-sharing an Instagram reel, which talks about the guilt of new moms wanting a break but at the same time cannot stay away from their babies, Deepika posted, “There… I said it! My toxic trait is loving my child so much that I don’t want anyone else watching them… but I desperately need a break… but I can’t stand being without them… but I also crave 24 hours of silence… but I still want to be with them 24/7.”

The actress, who often speaks about being a mother to a cute baby girl, has consciously kept her little one away from the limelight.
Last year, at the WAVES 2025 summit, Deepika shared, “I’m discovering this new life post-embracing motherhood. The minute you’ve had a child, you’re now responsible for another human being, and especially in the way I’ve led my life, it’s been so much about me — leaving home, my ambition, my career, and everything has been about my life and everything that I wanted for myself. And now, suddenly, you’re caring for this person who is dependent on you for everything.”
Since embracing motherhood, Deepika has spoken selectively yet meaningfully about her daughter, describing the journey as life-altering, grounding and deeply emotional.
Open about conversations around mental health and balance, Deepika has indicated that motherhood has enriched her capacity for patience, empathy and unconditional love, adding a new dimension to both her personal and professional life.
On the work front, Deepika will next be seen in ‘King’, alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is slated for a December 24 release.
She will also feature in Allu Arjun’s pan-India film, tentatively titled as ‘AA22xA6’.
