New Delhi: After clashing with the police on being stopped at the Haryana border on Friday morning, thousands of farmers were allowed to enter the capital in the afternoon as part of their Delhi Chalo march.
The farmers, protesting against the recent Central government far laws, were let in after Delhi police commissioner SN Shrivastava announced that they will be allowed to continue their demonstration peacefully at the Nirankari Samagam Ground in the city’s Burari area.
The Delhi government earlier in the day denied police permission to convert stadiums into temporary jails.
There was tension in the morning in and around Rohtak after one of the protesting farmers was killed in a road accident. According to Bharatiya Kisan Union, the mishap occurred due to the barricades set up by the Haryana government to halt the march.
