Mumbai: Nora Fatehi has been summoned by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court to depose as a prosecution witness in the Rs 200 crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
The court has directed the actor to appear on November 2. She has been listed as witness LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet filed in the case.
Chandrashekhar is accused of extorting approximately Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, during 2020-21.
While lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, he allegedly impersonated senior government officials and claimed he could secure her husband’s release in exchange for money.
The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) investigated the alleged extortion and subsequently filed a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The EOW had earlier questioned Fatehi over her alleged links to Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose.
Her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, after which she was named as a prosecution witness in the supplementary chargesheet.
During questioning, the actor told investigators that she had interacted with Chandrashekhar through his wife.
She was also questioned about an event she attended in Chennai in December 2020.
