Bhubaneswar: The recent data of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has revealed that the crimes against women increased significantly in 2019 as compared to 2018.
As per NCRB data, Delhi had registered the most number of crimes against women as the capital city ranked first among 19 metropolitan cities in India when it comes to crimes against women. It accounts for 28 per cent of total cases.
Check out the list of top five cities that registered the highest number of crimes against women:
1. Delhi – 1,231 incidents
2. Jaipur – 517 incidents
3. Mumbai – 394 incidents
4. Hyderabad – 184 incidents
5. Indore – 150 incidents
If the crime rates of 2018 and 2019 are compared, there has been an increase of 7.3 per cent. A total of 4,05,861 cases of crime against women were registered during 2019. Every 16 minutes, a woman gets raped in India.
However, in 2019, the country had recorded 88 rape cases every day. Out of 32,033 reported rape cases in the year, 11 per cent victims were from the Dalit community.
