New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital on May 25, slogans on boycotting elections and praising Naxalism were found sprayed on walls at multiple places in the Delhi University area. The Delhi Police filed two FIRs in connection with the matter.
Police said they noticed the slogans written in the area during morning patrolling on Thursday, India Today reported.
Slogans such as ‘Boycott elections, join new democracy’ and ‘Long live Naxalbari’ were written on the university walls and police barricades. Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM), a self-proclaimed youth organisation, claimed responsibility for the slogans. The BSCEM posted photos of the slogans sprayed on university walls on its Instagram page.
Two FIRs were registered under the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and an investigation was initiated. “Two FIRs under the Defacement Act were registered,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Manoj Kumar Meena said.
