Dense Fog Envelops Bhubaneswar, Seven Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: Vehicular traffic was disrupted in Bhubaneswar as dense fog enveloped the city and its outskirts on Friday morning.

According to reports, several vehicles were seen parked on both sides of the National Highway in the early hours of the morning due to poor visibility. At some places, the visibility was less than 10 metres.

Similar situation prevailed at one or two places in Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Angul, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Balangir districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in a morning bulletin on Friday said that shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur at one or two places in coastal and south interior districts during next two days till March 1 after which there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Gajapati on March 2.

It also said that the minimum night temperature in Odisha will remain below normal by 3-4 degree Celsius during the next 2-3 days while the maximum day temperature will gradually rise by 2-4 degree Celsius 

during the subsequent 2-4 days.

Meanwhile, the night temperature recorded in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Friday was the lowest in Daringbadi at 9.5 degree Celsius while temperature remained below 15 degree Celsius in Angul (10), Jharsuguda (13.8), Keonjhar (13.4), Sambalpur (13.5), Sundargarh (12.5), Talcher (14), Bhawanipatna (14.8), Balangir (14.6), Koraput (13), Phulbani (11), Titlagarh (10.6), Sonepur (12.4) and Nayagarh (13).

Besides, the night temperature in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar was 16.4 and 17.6 degree Celsius respectively.
