Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of fog engulfed Paradip, Puri and Gopalpur while visibility was reduced to 100 metres at Bhubaneswar airport on Tuesday morning.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), very dense fog was seen at Nayagarh, reducing visibility to less than 50 metres, while dense fog occurred in Angul, Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.
The weather agency has warned of dense fog at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Khurda and Ganjam districts till Wednesday morning. The alert continues for Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur during the subsequent 24 hours.
Shallow to Moderate fog may occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhargarh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Ganjam and at one or two places in Gajapati, Puri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh during early morning hours on Wednesday; and at a few places in Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal on Thursday.
Shallow to moderate fog is also during early morning hours on Friday at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh.
The IMD further stated that the night temperature across the state is unlikely to witness large change during the next 2 days and thereafter rise by 2-4 degree Celsius during subsequent 3 days.
In the last 24 hours, Rourkela was coldest at 8.2 degree Celsius, followed by G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, at 8.6 degree Celsius, Semiliguda at Koraput at 9.6 degree Celsius Sundargarh at 9.9 degree Celsius and Phulbani at 10 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 17.9 degree Celsius and 18 degree Celsius, respectively.
