New Delhi: Over 100 flights have been delayed due to bad weather conditions in Delhi on Sunday morning.
Delhi recorded a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius at 5.30 am on Sunday, as per the India Meteorological Department.
Dense fog leading to low visibility have been affecting flight operations for three days now.
An official stated that there has been no cancellations or flight diversions so far.
“While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” DIAL posted an advisory on X.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), which handles around 1,300 flight movements daily.
“Due to adverse weather conditions, flights to/from Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Lucknow are impacted,” IndiGo shared in a post on X at 12.59 am.
Regretting the inconvenience caused, the airline requested passengers to visit its website or app to check for updates and alternate flight options.
SpiceJet has also issued an advisory for Amritsar. “#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather in Amritsar (ATQ) all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status. SIC.”
Trains Services Affected
Train services were also affected as heavy fog significantly reduced visibility. Around 51 trains were running late with 10 by 6 to 7 hours. Additionally, the timings of 10 trains were also changed.
News agency ANI informed about delays in trains such as the Puri-NDLS Express, DBG-NDLS, Mahabodhi Express, Malwa Express, Gorakhpur Express, AP Express, Shram Shakri Express, Jammu Rajdhani, and UHP Kota Express.
