Bhubaneswar: Dense fog may continue to blanket Odisha during early morning hours for 2 more days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
Warning has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Kandhamal till December 23 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early hours/morning hours in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput.
The weather agency further said that the minimum temperature in the state is unlikely to witness any large change during the next seven days.
In the last 24 hours, G. Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest at 5.6°C, followed by Similiguda (6.7°C), Phulbani and Daringbadi, also in Kandhamal, at 7°C each, Koraput (7.6°C), Nabarangpur (9°C), Chiplima in. Sambalpur (9°C), Bhawanipatna and Boudh at 9.4°C each, and Angul and Jharsuguda at 9.6°C each.
Bhubaneswar recorded above normal temperature of 15.1°C, while mercury stood at 12.6°C in Cuttack. The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 12-14°C in the twin cities during the next five days.
Very dense fog also engulfed Rourkela this morning, reducing visibility to less than 50 metres. Dense fog was seen in Keonjhar and Phulbani, and moderate fog in Bhawanipatna, Chandbali in Bhadrak and Koraput.
