Depression In Bay In 48 Hours: IMD Issues Red Warning, Extreme Rainfall Forecast For Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall for a few places (7 to 20cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places in Kalahandi and Rayagada till 8.30 am on Monday.
Isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam districts are also likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) while heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is likely at isolated places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Angul during this period.
Several districts of the state are expected to witness intense spells of rain as orange and yellow warnings continue for the next three days.
The MeT officer further said that the well-marked low-pressure area over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 48 hours and move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea as squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is also likely over northwest adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast till August 11 morning.
