Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended a Deputy Director of Mines while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a businessman to allow smooth running of coal depot.
The accused has been identified as Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle.
He was caught by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and taking Rs 30,000 a licenced coal vendor in exchange for allowing smooth running of his coal depot and to grant permission to transport coal, official sources said.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Mohanty from disproportionate assets angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance has been registered a case and investigation is in progress.
