Cuttack: Uttar Pradesh police produced Syed Hassan Ahmed (42), a resident of Cuttack district, in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here on Friday, seeking his transit remand for interrogation.
Ahmed has been accused of posting derogatory content against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media.
A UP police team had arrested him from his village Kushambi under Salepur police limits on Thursday.
IIC of Salepur police station, Nihar Mohanty said that following the derogatory remarks on social media, a case was lodged in UP against Ahmed. “Later, a team of UP police of Singhbali police station arrived here on Thursday and arrested him with our help,” the IIC added.
The accused runs an electronic shop in Salepur market.
