Despite Govt Caution, Rising Omicron Cases, Ravenshaw Students In Odisha’s Cuttack Revel On Campus
Cuttack: Despite rising Omicron cases and the state government cautioning people not to violate COVID guidelines, hundreds of students of Ravenshaw University on Thursday night gathered on the campus for revelry on the concluding day of the annual athletic meet. The students can be seen dancing in a video.
University authorities said that all COVID protocols are in place on the campus.
DCP (Cuttack) Prateek Singh told a news outlet that the police will take action and issue a showcause notice to the varsity.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is yet to comment on the matter.
As Omicron cases rise and ahead of the yearend, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appealed to people to follow COVID protocols.
The state government has announced a ban on zero night and New Year celebrations.
Chairing a high-level meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed officials to remain alert and vigilant as the number of Omicron cases in India crossed 300.
The PM said that the fight against the pandemic was not over and that India should remain ‘satark’ (alert) and ‘saavdhaan’ (vigilant’).
