Khallikote: The goat in the picture is in news for a bizarre reason.
Forest Department staff in Khallikote Forest Range have kept it in detention for the last three days for eating branches of plants planted as part of an afforestation drive.
The goat belongs to a villager from Bharasa Nuapalli under Mathura panchayat of Khallikote block in Odisha’s Ganjam district. He had taken a herd of goats to a nearby hill for grazing. A few goats ate branches of plants planted by the Forest Department as part of an afforestation drive.
Angry forest guards detained one of the goats. The goat is now kept at the Khallikote forest office.
Khallikote Ranger Siddhartha Sahu declined to comment on the incident.
