Nischintakoili: A Bhubaneswar-based businessman was allegedly abducted by some miscreants in guise of police from Nemala Mutt under Nemala police limits in Cuttack district on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Subhendu Mohapata , a realtor and resident of Bhimtangi in Bhubaneswar. He had come to Mahapurush Achyutananda Mutt along with his wife and two children this morning.
According to sources, five to six persons identifying themselves as police officers took Subhendu away with them in a car while the puja rituals were still on.
An eyewitness said that when locals tried to obstruct one of them showed them his card and asked them to stay away.
With police denying movement of police personnel in the area, it is being suspected that Subhendu had been kidnapped by some miscreants over past enmity.
The realtor’s wife said that she was inside the temple when the incident took place and got to know about her husband being kidnapped from locals.
She has lodged a police complaint. During preliminary probe, police recovered a paper name plate of a vehicle, which they believe was used for ‘abduction’, bearing the number OR 05 S 1193.
