Bengaluru: Notwithstanding the ban on religious gatherings due to the countrywide lockdown, over a hundred devotees participated in a chariot festival at a shrine at Chitapur village in Karnataka.
“Around 100-150 people visited Siddalingeshwara temple and took part in the chariot pulling procession for around 20 minutes today morning,” Superintendent of Police Lada Martin told ANI on Thursday.
Police have booked 20 people, and a sub-inspector has been reportedly suspended.
As many as 315 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Karnataka. Of these, 82 have recovered and 13 have died.
