‘Dharmendra Ji Ka Beta’ Sunny Deol Steals Hearts In ‘Border 2’ Credits; Fans Call It Ultimate Tribute!

Mumbai: Directed by Anurag Sinha, the Sunny Deol starrer highly-anticipated war-drama ‘Border 2’ opened to packed houses on Friday and received an overwhelming response.

But besides the film, what touched the hearts of movie buffs was the ‘perfect tribute’ paid by Sunny Deol to his late father, veteran actor Dharmendra in the film’s opening credits.

In the film’s credits, Sunny has been credited as ‘Dharmendra ji ka beta’ (Dharmendra’s son) instead of Sunny Deol.

Sharing a picture of Dharmendra and Sunny, an overwhelmed fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Wow, what a tribute to the late Dharmendra Ji by #Border2 team. Sunny Deol is introduced as “Dharmendra ka Beta” at the start of movie credits. Some people can say isme kya wo beta hi to hai (what’s so special, he’s his son), but empathic people will understand the core of the emotion.”

“Highlight of #Border2 sunny deol introduced as Dharmendra ji ka beta,” wrote another.

Praising Sunny’s performance despite being in his 60s, a fan remarked, “At the age of 68, #SunnyDeol ROARS like a lion. Dharmendra Ji Ka Beta is nailing it. (Well, that’s how he’s been introduced).”

One fan commented, “What a perfect tribute to Dharam ji. #Border2.”

Not just this, but a viral video shows ardent fans of Sunny arriving in tractors to watch the film.

In the viral clip, fans from Uttar Pradesh’s Najibabad are seen cheering atop tractors as they enter cinema halls. Some even stuck posters of the actor on the tractors as they entered the theatre’s parking lot in huge numbers.

Reacting to the viral video of enthusiastic fans, a user commented, “From fields to theatre halls. People celebrating Border 2 like a festival. Cinema at ground level hits different.”

Another posted, “Sunny Deol fans will watch it on the first day as always!”

“This is a celebration for Sunny Deol fans. Border 2 will be a big hit,” wrote another.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and JP Films, ‘Border 2’ is a sequel to the blockbuster war-drama ‘Border’.

The film, which also features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana, collected Rs 30 crore in India on its opening day.

A review of the movie by The Hindustan Times read, “Border 2 is not content with being just another sequel. It wants to make you sit up and salute. While its excesses are hard to ignore, so is its sincerity. The film reaches back into a time when patriotism in cinema was worn unapologetically… when heroes spoke loudly and emotions rang true. And with some genuinely moving moments, Border 2 delivers exactly what it promises: a theatrical experience meant to be felt in a darkened hall, among strangers who momentarily feel like comrades.”
