Dharmendra Pradhan Shares Glimpses Of Preparations At IIM-S Ahead Of PM Modi’s Odisha Visit

Sambalpur: The Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur, (IIM-S) is all set for the inauguration of its permanent campus at Basantpur, on the outskirts of western Odisha town, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday shared glimpses of the preparations at the institute on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. “A historic day awaits Odisha on February 3 as PM Narendra Modi is set to dedicate the permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur to the nation and inaugurate as well as lay foundation stone of developmental initiatives worth Rs 68,000 crore. These projects will put Odisha on the fast lane to prosperity,” he wrote.

“Sambalpur, in particular, is filled with immense excitement and joy and is eager to accord a grand welcome to PM Modi ji,” he added.

PM Modi is scheduled to arrive here in a special Indian Air Force aircraft from Jharsuguda airport around 2.15 pm. Around 4,000 people, including students, staff and teachers of IIM-S, are expected to attend the inaugural ceremony.

Initially, the B-school operated from a privately-run institution, Silicon Institute of Technology, campus at Sason area.

The permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur, the foundation stone for which was laid by the PM through virtual mode on January 2, 2021, has been built over an area of 200 acre at a cost of Rs 401 crore, incorporating regional art and architecture, with National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited as the project management consultant.

Modern facilities at the new campus include auditoriums, libraries, sports zone, incubation centres and hostels. It also boasts of a rooftop photovoltaic solar power plant with advanced features like motion sensor lights and solar water heating systems. The institute has implemented astronomical timers for external lighting and a high BEE star rating, aimed at cutting electricity consumption by 55 per cent. The campus also has an on-site waste water treatment system, according to reports.

Last month, Dharmendra had inaugurated the ‘Rangavati Centre of Excellence in Cultural and Sustainable Management’ at the B-school, and said that it will prove to be a hub for preserving the cultural heritage of Odisha, including dances, soulful songs, nature worship, and the rich food culture.

The Prime Minister will also address a public rally near Remed Chhak and sound the clarion call for BJP’s aggressive campaign in western Odisha for the upcoming elections. It is likely to be attended by around 150,000 people.
