Dharmendra seeks support of company secretaries for GST implementation
Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a seminar on ‘Goods & Services Tax – a New Era’ organised by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Bhubaneswar Chapter, in the state capital on Sunday.
Addressing the seminar, Dharmendra encouraged the company secretaries to help in implementation of GST. He said, “Wealth creation is necessary for the country, but, it is not the responsibility of the government to create health for the nation. It is the people who will create wealth for themselves. In fact, it is the duty of the government to create facilities for creation of wealth.”
Speaking on the occasion, ICSI, New Delhi, president Dr Shyam Agrawal highlighted the importance of GST which is a very simple tax and said it will boost economic growth of the country. He assured the Union Minister that the ICSI members are ready to render any kind of help that may be required.
ICSI, Bhubaneswar Chapter, chairman Priyadarahi Nayak, secretary and treasurer Rajendra Kumar Kar and EIRC regional council member Sunita Mohanty were present during the inaugural session.
The seminar was followed with two technical sessions. Professionals, including company secretaries, chartered accountants, cost & management accountants, corporate executives, managers and directors of various corporate houses and students of the ICSI, attended.
