Dharna For City Hospital In Odisha’s Kendrapada Town Enters 30th Day
Kendrapada: The dharna staged by the people of Odisha’s Kendrapada town in front of the district collector’s office demanding a city hospital entered 30th day on Friday.
As per the reports, hundreds of people including women started their dharna on January 25 as the authorities did not take any step even after a successful Kendrapada bandh called in support of their demand on January 17. The agitation is spearheaded by Medical Banchao Kriyanusthan Committee (MBKC).
After the departments of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) the Blood Bank and Gynaecology shifted to a new building at Samagudia on January 9, the locals have been demanding city hospital to be opened in the town to meet emergency medical needs. As the authorities did not take any step in this regard, the MBKC called the one-day bandh.
With the people sticking to their agitation and the authorities not coming forward with any solution, the women pitched a tent in front of the collector’s office and cooked food for the agitators to express their solidarity. The women said they would continue to support the men on dharna by providing them food till the demand is fulfilled.
