Cuttack: The conjoined twins, who were born at Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Odisha on July 1, died at Sishu Bhawan here on Friday evening, informed Hospital Superintendent Saroj Satpathy.
Earlier in the day, the condition of the twin girls had become critical. Efforts to feed them had failed, following which the hospital had to put on hold some tests.
A special team of seven doctors headed by Dr Hiranya Mohanty were treating the newborns.
Notably, Renubala Behera, wife of Pradeep Behera of Khalpal village of Parjang block in Dhenkanal district, gave birth to the twin girls joined from the chest to the stomach at the Dhenkanal DHH on July 1.
The babies, weighing 4.5 kg, were later shifted to the Sishu Bhawan.
