Dhenkanal: Dhenkanal police on Sunday recused a minor girl, who was allegedly sold off for Rs 50,000 in Goa, from Colva area of Goa.
A four-member team of the district police had left for Goa on January 9 to rescue the 10-year-old girl, belonging to Dakshinapasi village of Gondia block in the district.
According to sources, the district Child Welfare Committee had received a complaint about the girl being sold to the owner of a hotel there more than one and a half year back. A complaint was later lodged with collector and superintendent of police, requesting them to rescue the girl.
“The girl was working in the hotel and the owner’s house and her grandfather was aware of it,” Gondia police station IIC Nirupama Jena said.
