Mumbai: ‘Dhurandhar’ has stormed into the Rs 1,000-crore club worldwide within 21 days of its release.
In a major box-office success for Bollywood, the Aditya Dhar-helmed film has collected Rs 668.80 crore in India, and counting, while its global earnings are currently Rs 1,006.7 crore.
On the 21st day, which happened to be Christmas, there was a surge in footfalls at theatres screening Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar’. The film earned an estimated Rs 26 crore in the domestic market on December 25, nearly matching its opening-day collection of Rs 28 crore and thereby pushing its India total to Rs 668.80 crore.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Dhurandhar’ recorded an overall occupancy of almost 50% on Day 21, a significant jump from its opening-day footfall of 33.81% across India. Though there has been a reduction in number of screens, going into the fourth week, ‘Dhurandhar’ has managed to hold strong.
‘Dhurandhar’ has turned out to be the perfect year-ender for Bollywood after Vicky Kaushal-starrer ‘Chhaava’ set the tone for 2025 with some great numbers, racking up nearly Rs 800 crore worldwide in February-March.
Along with critical acclaim, ‘Dhurandhar’ has also had a fair share of criticism, with a section of the audience labelling it as “well-made propaganda,” even as they acknowledge its technical finesse and cinematic brilliance.
The makers have already announced a sequel, scheduled for release on March 19, further cementing Dhurandhar as a franchise in the making.
