Bhawanipatna: Diarrhoea has spread to a village of another block in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, sparking off panic among the local people.
According to sources, at least 25 people have been infected by the water-borne disease in Bhaluguda village under Kalampur block in the last 2 days. The critical patients have been admitted in community health centre (CHC) at Kalampur.
Medical Officer of Kalampur CHC Shibasis Swain said, “Initially, saline and antibiotics are being given to the patients in their houses. If there is no remission, the critical patients will be admitted in hospital.”
A medical team has reached the village to spread awareness among the villagers about hygienic practices in their daily lives as well as sanitation measures. They have also collected water samples from tubewell in the village and sent those for laboratory test.
Besides, Asha and Anganwadi workers have been directed to assist with the medical team in identifying the patients and carrying out necessary treatment. In a bid to curb the spread, bleaching powder has been sprayed in various corners of the village.
