New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Thursday that there is no rift between the Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Responding to a question on whether there are differences between RSS and BJP, Bhagwat said that the organisation has good coordination with the Central as well as state governments.
Speaking during an event in New Delhi, Bhagwat said RSS can give advice on any issue, but the final decision will be taken by the BJP, and that there may be a ‘struggle’ but ‘no quarrel.’
“We have good coordination with every government, both state governments and Central governments. But there are systems which have some internal contradictions. The system in general is the same, which was invented by the British so that they can rule. So, we have to have some innovations. Then, we want something to happen. Even if the man in the chair is 100% for us, he has to do it and knows what the hurdles are. He may or may not be able to do it. We have to give him that independence. There is no quarrel anywhere,” Bhagwat said.

Rumours of an undercurrent, and a possible rift, between RSS and BJP started doing the rounds after the saffron party failed to win a majority of its own in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, and Narendra Modi had to form a government with the help of TDP and JD(U).
Last year, Bhagwat highlighted the need to “get over the election rhetoric” and resolve the Manipur conflict as a priority, suggesting he was sending a message that there was need for significant work to be done and not rely on past performances.
Clearing the air, Bhagwat said all these things make it appear as if there is a quarrel. However, he opined that there might be a struggle, but no quarrel as the goal is the same, which is the good of our country.
“Humare yahan mat bhed ho sakta hai par mann bhed nahi hai (We may have differences in views but not in mind)… Does RSS decide everything? This is completely wrong. This cannot happen at all. I have been running the Sangh for many years, and they are running the government. Therefore, we can only give advice, not make a decision. If we were deciding, would it take so much time? We do not decide,” said Bhagwat.
On the delay in deciding the new BJP president, Bhagwat said, “Take your time, we do not have to say anything. We help everyone, not just BJP, if they need our assistance in doing good work.”
