DISHA Meeting Marred By Uproar Over 5T Board In Odisha’s Nabarangpur
Nabarangpur: A meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) in Odisha’s Nabarangpur was marred by heated arguments among its members a 5T sign board.
According to sources, the meeting, convened to review various developmental works undertaken in the district, was held at the Mission Shakti hall in Nabarangpur. As soon as the meeting started, BJD MLA of Dabugaon Manohar Randhari asked why the 5T information board installed at the oxygen plant on the premises of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) was removed.
BJP’s Umerkote MLA Nityananda Gond countered him by saying that Union minister Bishweswar Tudu had ordered to remove the information board on June 24. This led the representatives of BJD to raise slogans against the minister and created an uproar, disrupting the meeting.
Infuriated by the disruptions, Gond left the meeting midway. “The DISHA meeting was convened to discuss the progress of various Central schemes along with other problems of the district. But BJD members unnecessarily made an issue out of removal of the 5T board,” he told the media.
“The Centre has been sanctioning funds for implementation of various schemes in the district. When the Union Minister visited Odisha recently, he found 5T boards everywhere. He took exception to the board at the oxygen plan which has been established with funds from the Centre and ordered to remove it. But BJD wants to take the credit for the plant,” he added.
It may be noted that DISHA has been formed by the Ministry of Rural Development at district levels across the country under the chairpersonship of concerned MP to monitor proper implementation of key Central schemes and programmes and ensure better coordination at all levels of elected representatives for efficient and time-bound development of districts.
