Bhubaneswar: The Mayurbhanj district administration has failed to provide pasture land to a ‘Goshala’ (cattle shelter) despite the Governor’s request 6 months back.
This was stated by the secretary of Radhakrushna Goseva Samiti, Hemant Shah while speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar after taking up the matter with Governor Ganeshi Lal during a meeting in Raj Bhavan on Monday.
Shah said the Governor had visited the Goshala, managed by the Samiti at Samakhunta in the district, during a visit on October 14 last year. He had inaugurated a special facility for pregnant cows in the Goshala.
“The members of the Samiti told the Governor that they were facing difficulty in arranging sufficient cattle feed including grass and vegetables as it did not have a pasture land. We sought Governor’s intervention for giving permission to them to grow grass in the pasture land near the Goshala,” Shah said.
On our request, the Governor had told the district collector, present during the visit, to make arrangement for granting a portion of the land to the Samiti. But the district administration has not taken any step on the Governor’s request so far, he added.
“When I took up the issue with the Governor, he was surprised and expressed his displeasure. He has assured that he would write to the district collector to provide the pasture land,” Shah said.
