New Delhi: Honey Singh has had to shell out Rs 1 crore as alimony in his divorce settlement with Shalini Talwar.
The Punjabi singer, who uses the name Yo Yo Honey Singh, had been accused of domestic violence in 2021 by wife Shalini Talwar.
Honey and Shalini reached an alimony settlement in their divorce case at the Saket family court in Delhi on Thursday.
Honey handed over a cheque for Rs 1 crore to Shalini in the presence of judge Vinod Kumar.
The alimony was settled in court after allegations and counter-allegations between the estranged couple. The next hearing in the case will be on March 20, 2023.
In August 2021, Shalini had alleged sexual violence, mental harassment, cheating and financial fraud against Honey Singh, who denied the allegations.
The singer had issued a statement on social media, terming the charges as ‘false and malicious’.
“I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family my old parents and younger sister who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature,” he had written.
