Diwali Gift: Family Pension Limit Increased As Defence Ministry Changes Rules
New Delhi: There is good news for Armed forces personnel ahead of Diwali.
The Defence ministry has increased maximum limit of family pension payable to a child/children as per the seventh Central Pay Commission (CPC).
The highest pay has been revised to Rs 2.5 lakh per month, the ministry said in a statement.
“Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoP&PW) revised maximum ceiling limits of two family pension payable to a child or children in respect of both parents to Rs 1.25 lakh per month (50 per cent of Rs 2.5 lakh ordinary family pension at enhanced rate) and Rs 75,000 per month (30 per cent of Rs 2.5 lakh ordinary family pension) with effect from January 1, 2016,” the ministry elaborated.
The order, dated October 29, 2021, will be implemented with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016, reported LiveHindustan.
As a result of the revision, children/child whose both parents are employed by Ministry of Defence will benefit. Both parents will have to be under the purview of 7th CPC.
The Central government, earlier this month, modified rules governing payment of ex-gratia compensation to families of employees who die while carrying out official duty.
Under new rules, payment of ex-gratia compensation may be made to a member or members of the family in whose favour a nomination was made by the employee. In case no nominee was designated, the ex-gratia amount will be divided equally among all eligible family members.
