Bhubaneswar: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the turn-key consultant for Bhubaneswar Metro Phase 1, has floated separate tenders for elevated viaduct and 19 stations of the 26-km project worth Rs 6,255 crore.

The tender notice for 7.122-km-long Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA)-Acharya Vihar stretch with six stations (BBC-03) of the project was published on Monday, while that for 10.970 km of the northern-end of the link, connecting KIIT Square with Trisulia Square via 6 elevated stations (BBC-05), and 7.27 km long (BBC-04 package), falling in the middle linking Acharya Square and KIIT Square with seven elevated stations, on Tuesday.

The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 11 am on March 19.

The 7.122-km-long section, linking Capital Hospital to Acharya Vihar Square, will have 6 elevated stations at Capital Hospital, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar and Acharya Vihar Square. The estimated cost of constructing this elevated stretch with six stations is 630.65 crore.

Similarly, an elevated viaduct and seven elevated stations – Jayadev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square and KIIT Square – will be constructed at an estimated coast of Rs 664.06 crore.

The estimated cost of the 10.970-km-long line, linking KIIT Square and Trisulia Square via six elevated stations -Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Barang Station, Phulapokhari, and Trisulia Square – is Rs 869.71 crore.

Package BBC-05 also includes a ramp leading to Phulapokhari depot and workshop, which will be built under Package BBC-02 on a 16 hectare land for which tender was floated last month.

Any agency having expertise in constructing similar projects worth not less than Rs 500 crore had been asked submit its bid before 3 pm on April 22. The technical bid will open at 3 pm on April 23.

A target has been set to complete all the three packages within 3 years, sources said.

The project, connecting Bhubaneswar with Cuttack, received approval for its Detailed Project Report (DPR) from the state government on October 7, 2023, while the foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 1.

The state government recently allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the ambitious project in the vote-on-account 2024-25.

The metro rail project’s central depot will be near Trisulia Square. This depot will house the command and control centre and the essential facilities for stabilising the metro trains, the sources added.
